Reading for pleasure

Reading for Pleasure is a high priority at St John the Baptist RC Primary School! We timetable it to ensure that children get to read a book of their choice on a regular basis.

We also want children to have plenty of places to curl up and get cosy when reading so we have developed many spaces around school to facilitate this.

Children at St John the Baptist also take part in regular reading for pleasure events: storytelling week, world book day, visits to the theatre, visits from pantomime companies and many more.

Each half term, families are invited in to read with their children. In EYFS, the families are able to use our Lending Library to borrow a book and read at home with their children.
